Roya Heydari is the Associate Director of Faculty Assessment at Columbia University School of Professional Studies. She has a background in education and education research spanning from secondary education to varying degrees of higher education. In her role as Associate Director, Roya manages the assessment process of SPS faculty; specifically student course evaluations. She also works collaboratively with faculty to develop their pedagogy and overall teaching effectiveness.
Roya received her doctorate in Science Education from Columbia University, Teachers College. Her work focused on the identity development of marginalized students in informal science settings. Roya has a wide range of experiences in educational assessment; specifically combining quantitative and qualitative methods to holistically assess teaching and learning in the classroom, as well as working with teachers to improve learning in a range of classroom settings. She is passionate about working with students and faculty to make high-quality education accessible for all.
