What is Canvas?
Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) currently used by SPS to build and deliver courses. The purpose of the LMS is to simplify teaching and learning by connecting all the digital tools instructors use within a single interface. This ensures we can provide students with a rich and seamless technology-enabled learning experience. Getting to know Canvas is the first step in the process of becoming familiar with the online course environment you'll be sharing with your students.
Canvas Integrations
Canvas integrates with a number of additional course tools that we support, to facilitate online meetings and discussions, and to support flipped classroom design. These tools are referred to in Canvas as "External Apps" and are designed to expand its capabilities, providing opportunities for faculty and designers to customize the teaching and learning experience based on course needs.
ONLINE MEETING SOLUTIONS
SPS has several online meeting solutions (Zoom, Adobe Connect, and BigBlueButton) available for real-time interactions between instructors and students. These synchronous tools allow for engagement on webcam and audio with enhanced features for screen-sharing, annotation, chat, polling, and breakouts. Instructors can leverage online meeting solutions to make their courses more social, increase instructor presence, and foster meaningful connections.
