Service Opportunities at SPS
Full-time faculty are encouraged to engage with these resources to continually improve their teaching and to further develop as scholar-practitioners.

Faculty service is essential to the success of the University as it contributes to the intellectual vitality, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the academic community. It is a fundamental professional responsibility that extends beyond classroom teaching and research.
It is also a required component of the full-time faculty review process, which evaluates a faculty member’s documented record of service to their program, SPS, the University, and to their profession such as:
- Record of leadership responsibilities within program (e.g., serving as Program Director/Associate Director)
- Academic or career advising
- Admissions reviews
- Committee membership
- SPS Faculty Development Committee
- SPS Faculty Executive Committee
- SPS DEIA Committee
- SPS Program Curriculum Committee Resources
- SPS Committee On Instruction
- Faculty Review Committee
- Full-time faculty members are invited by department chairs to serve on Review Committees based on their rank and area of expertise.
- Faculty Search Committee
- Full-time faculty members are invited by department chairs to serve on Search Committees based on their rank and area of expertise.
- Mentorship of colleagues, faculty, graduate students, etc.
- Participating in professional organizations
- Faculty who are looking for assistance in identifying professional service opportunities should contact their respective Program Director
- Reviewing publications
- Organizing conferences
- Serving on editorial boards
