Ask A Librarian – Columbia Libraries portal/webpage for faculty and staff to schedule reference and research assistance hours, appointments, and to ask questions via phone/email/text/IM.

Bloomberg Terminals – Students and faculty can access Bloomberg terminals to monitor and analyze real-time financial market data; 8 terminals in Watson Library, 2 in Lehman Library, 1 in Science and Engineering Library, and 1 in Math Library.

Canvas – SPS’s Learning Management System that is used for all courses; the Getting to Know Canvas page on this site provides an excellent introduction.

Columbia Statistics & Facts – Planning information that is used to manage the University and make decisions about its policies and goals is provided by the Office of Planning and Institutional Research. This data includes historical and current information about Columbia, comparisons across peer institutions and surveys of faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Columbia University Libraries – Columbia University Libraries is one of the top five academic research libraries in North America. The collections include over 13 million volumes, over 160,000 journals and serials, as well as extensive electronic resources, manuscripts, rare books, microforms, maps, and graphic and audio-visual materials. The Libraries employs more than 400 staff members and hosts over 4.7 million visitors each year.

The library's Digital Centers, the Center for Digital Research and Scholarship and the Copyright Advisory Office focus on the purposeful use of technology in learning and teaching – on partnering with researchers and scholars to share new knowledge – and on addressing the relationship between copyright law and the work of the University.

Course Readers – An option to offer articles/book chapters to students without requiring the purchase of the entire book; university printing can assist in publication.

CLIO – The online library catalog for Columbia University; users can search for books, journal articles, e-books, dissertations, online resources, videos, and more.

The CU Writing Center – If your students find themselves struggling with a paper, they can seek help from the Writing Center. It’s open to Columbia graduate students at no additional charge. 

Directory of Classes – Contains all course information each term (e.g., course name, number, day, time, location, and enrollment).

Faculty Handbook – Columbia University's handbook for faculty organization, governance, resources, and services.

Faculty Workshops 

• Technology training workshops are offered by the SPS Online Support team
• Faculty forums and other workshops are offered by the SPS Faculty Development team
• Professional development programs and events for faculty teaching throughout the university are offered by Columbia’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL)
