Jacmel Mera
Born and raised in the Bronx, Jacmel is a native New Yorker who loves the fast pace of the city and enjoys a NY slice of pizza any day of the week. Jacmel is a first-generation college graduate who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from SUNY University at Albany.
Before Columbia, Jacmel worked for a non-profit organization that strives to provide housing and services for the homeless population in NYC and Westchester. While working with the organization, Jacmel held various roles such as Case Manager and Program Assistant at a Rapid Re-housing Men’s Shelter in the Bronx.
During Jacmel’s spare time she enjoys traveling to new places, spending time with family/friends and brunching. Fun facts: She hopes to have traveled to at least 30 countries before the age of 50. Jacmel’s dream is to own an abandoned church or courthouse and convert it into a beautiful wedding venue where she can fulfill her lifelong dream of being a Wedding Planner (when she wins the lottery of course).
