Jalisha Jenifer, Ph.D.

Jalisha Jenifer is the Associate Director of Faculty Development at Columbia University School of Professional Studies. In her role, Jalisha supports faculty in their pedagogical development and manages training opportunities focused on teaching effectiveness.

Jalisha has a background in psychological research with a focus on learning sciences and student motivation. In addition to publishing research relevant to the teaching and learning domain, Jalisha has experience teaching a variety of psychology and pedagogy-based courses both in person and synchronously online at the pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate level.

Prior to joining SPS, Jalisha taught and conducted research as a postdoctoral fellow at Barnard College, Columbia University. She has also served as a teaching fellow for the Chicago Center for Teaching and as a learning consultant at the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning.

Jalisha received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Chicago with certifications in education sciences and college teaching and with fellowships through the National Science Foundation and the Institute of Education Sciences. Jalisha also holds a B.A. in Psychology with a certificate in Neuroscience from Princeton University.
