On June 1st, the Curriculum and Instruction team hosted its first Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) Workshop for faculty, teaching associates, and officers of administration at SPS. Quality Matters (QM) is an internationally recognized non-profit organization that is renowned for its development of research-based standards to improve the design of online and hybrid courses.

The APPQMR workshop introduced SPS faculty and staff to current, research-based quality standards for online and hybrid course design and provided an opportunity for practice peer review of an online course using QM review tools. Additionally, participants shared practical tips for improving the design of online and hybrid courses using the QM rubric standards.

Overall, the APPQMR workshop presented an exciting opportunity for faculty and staff to engage in conversations about what constitutes quality in online and hybrid courses and to identify ways in which SPS can utilize the QM rubric to design best-in-class course offerings that support the academic and professional aspirations of our student community.
